FILIPINO SIGNS OF WIT:

11. A local burger restaurant called Mang Donald's
12. A doughnut shop called MacDonuts
13. A shop selling 'lumpia' (egg roll) in Makati called Wrap and Roll
14. And two butcher shops called Meating Place and Meatropolis. Smart travelers can decipher what may look like baffling signs to unaccustomed foreigners by simply sounding out the 'Taglish' (The Philippine version of English words spelled and pronounced with a heavy Filipino such as:
15. At a restaurant menu in Cebu ? We hab sopdrink in can an in batol? [translation: We have soft drinks in can and in bottle].
16. Then, there is a sewing accessories shop called Bids And Pises - [translation: Beads and Pieces --or-- Bits and Pieces] There are also many signs with either badly chosen or misspelled words but they are usually so entertaining that it would be a mistake to 'correct' them like....... 17. In a restaurant in Baguio City , the 'summer capital' of the Philippines : ? Wanted: Boy Waitress?
18. On a highway in Pampanga: ?We Make Modern Antique Furniture?
19. On the window of a photography shop in Cabanatuan : ? We Shoot You While You Wait?
20. And on the glass front of a cafe in Panay Avenue in Manila :?Wanted: Waiter, Cashier, Washier?. Some of the notices can even give a wrong impression such as:
21. A shoe store in Pangasinan which has a sign saying: ? We Sell Imported Robber Shoes? (these could be the 'sneakiest' sneakers);
22. A rental property sign in Jaro reads: ?House For Rent, Fully Furnaced? (it must really be hot inside)!
23. Occasionally, one could come across signs that are truly unique - if not altogether odd. City in southern Philippines which said: ?Adults: 1 peso; Child: 50 centavos; Cadavers: fare subject to negotiation? .
24. European tourists may also be intrigued to discover two competing shops selling hopia (a Chinese pastry) called Holland Hopia and Poland Hopia - which are owned and operated by two local Chinese entrepreneurs, Mr. Ho and Mr. Po respectively - (believe it or not)!
25. Some folks also 'creatively' redesign English to be more efficient.?The creative confusion between language and culture leads to more than just simple unintentional errors in syntax, but in the adoption of new words, ?says reader Robert Goodfellow who came across a sign ..... House Fersallarend' (house for sale or rent). Why use five words when two will do?
26. According to Manila businessman, Tonyboy Ongsiako, there is so much wit in the Philippines because? We are a country where a good sense of humor is needed to survive?. We have a 24-hour comedy show here called the government and a huge reserve of comedians made up mostly of politicians and bad actors.

Now I ask you where else in the world would one want to live?

Before and After Marriage...

Before marriage....

He: Yes. At last. It was so hard to wait.

She: Do you want me to leave?

He: No! Don't even think about it.

She: Do you love me?

He: Of course! Over and over!

She: Have you ever cheated on me?

He: No! Why are you even asking?

She: Will you kiss me?

He: Every chance I get.

She: Will you hit me?

He: Are you crazy! I'm not that kind of person!

She: Can I trust you?

He: Yes.

She: Darling!

After marriage....

Lessons Of Love

By: Roy Nwaisser

A ninety-one year old woman died after living a long dignified life. When she met God she asked him something that had long bothered her. If Man was created in God's image, and if all men are created equal, why do people treat each other so badly?

God replied that each person who enters our life has a unique lesson to teach us. And it is only through these lessons that we learn about life, people, relationships and God. This confused the woman, so God began to explain.

When someone lies to you it teaches you that things are not always as they seem. The truth is often far beneath the surface. Look beyond the masks people wear if you want to know their heart. And remove your own masks to let people know yours.

When someone steals from you it teaches you that nothing is forever. Always appreciate what you have, for you never know when you might lose it. And never, ever take your friends and family for granted because today is the only guarantee you have.

When someone inflicts an injury upon you it teaches you that the human state is a fragile one. Protect and take care of your body as best you can, it's the only thing you are sure to have forever.

When someone mocks you it teaches you that no two people are alike. When you encounter people who are different from you, don't judge them by how they look or act; instead base your opinion on the contents of their heart.

When someone breaks your heart it teaches you that loving someone does not always mean that person will love you back. But don't turn your back on love because when you find the right person, the joy that one person brings will make up for all the past hurts put together. Times ten.

When someone holds a grudge against you it teaches you that everyone makes mistakes. When you are wronged, the most virtuous thing you can do is forgive the offender without pretense. Forgiving those who have hurt us is the most difficult and courageous thing Man can do.
When a loved one is unfaithful to you it teaches you that resisting temptation is Man's greatest challenge. Be vigilant in your resistance against all temptation. By doing so you will be rewarded with an enduring sense of satisfaction far greater than the temporary pleasure by which you were tempted.

When someone cheats you, it teaches you that greed is the root of all evil. Aspire to make your dreams come true, no matter how lofty they may be. Do not feel guilty about your success, but never let an obsession with achieving your goals lead you to engage in malevolent activities.
When someone ridicules you it teaches you that nobody is perfect. Accept people for their merits and be tolerant of their flaws. Do not ever reject someone for imperfections over which they have no control.

Upon hearing the Lord's wisdom, the old woman became concerned that there were no lessons to be learned from Man's good deeds.

God replied that Man's capacity to love is the greatest gift he has. At the root of all kindness is love, and each act of love also teaches us a lesson. The woman's curiosity deepening, God once again began to explain.

When someone loves us it teaches us that love, kindness, charity, honesty, humility, forgiveness and acceptance can counteract all the evil in the world. For every good deed, there is one less evil deed. Man alone has the power to control the balance between good and evil, but because the lessons of love are not taught often enough, the power is too often abused.

When you enter someone's life, whether by plan, chance or coincidence, consider what your lesson will be. Will you teach love or a harsh lesson of reality? When you die will your life have resulted in more loving or hurting? More comfort or pain? More joy or sadness? Each one of us has power over the balance of love in the world. Use it wisely.

Don't miss an opportunity to nudge the world's scale in the right direction.

FAMILY

I ran into a stranger as
he passed by,
"Oh excuse me please" was my reply.
He said, "Please excuse me too;
I wasn't watching for you."
We were very polite, this
stranger and I.
We went on our way and we said goodbye.
But at home a different
story is told,
How we treat our loved ones, young and old.
Later that day, cooking the
evening meal,
My son stood beside me very still.
When I turned, I nearly
knocked him down.
"Move out of the way," I said with a frown.
He walked away, his little
heart broken.
I didn't realize how harshly I'd spoken.
While I lay awake in bed,
God's still small voice came to me and said,
"While dealing with a
stranger,
common courtesy you use,
but the family you love, you
seem to abuse.
Go and look on the kitchen floor,
You'll find some flowers there by the door.
Those are the flowers he
brought for you.
He picked them himself: pink, yellow and blue.
He stood very quietly not to
spoil the surprise,
you never saw the tears that filled his little eyes.
" By this time, I felt very
small,
And now my tears began to fall.
I quietly went and knelt by
his bed;
"Wake up, little one, wake up," I said.
"Are these the flowers you
picked for me?"
He smiled, "I found 'em, out by the tree.
I picked 'em because they're
pretty like you.
I knew you'd like 'em, especially the blue.
" I said, "Son, I'm very sorry
for the way I acted today;
I shouldn't have yelled at you that way."
He said, "Oh, Mom, that's okay.
I love you anyway."
I said, "Son, I love you too,
and I do like the flowers, especially the blue.
" FAMILY
Are you aware that if we died tomorrow,
the company that we are working for could
easily replace us in a matter of days.
But the family we left behind will feel the loss
for the rest of their lives.
And come to think of it, we
pour ourselves more
into work than into our own family,
an unwise investment indeed,
don't you think? So what is behind the story?
Do you know what the
word FAMILY means?
FAMILY = (F)ATHER (A)ND (M)OTHER (I) (L)OVE (Y)OU

Freedom Of Simplicity

Happiness is not found outside of you.
It doesn't come from cars, clothes, cash, or Caribbean cruises.
Happiness is found within.
But how can you find it if you don't have the simplicity of time
and space to discover the most important things in your life?

How can you search the depths of your soul
if you are too busy impressing others, acquiring wealth,
protecting your properties, and paying your debts?

Simplicity is not about the external either:
living in a doghouse, eating in Hepatitis joints, wearing rags.

Let me define what it is: Simplicity is living from the core of your being.

A TREASURE MAP OF HAPPINESS

Simplicity will point to you where and what and who the gold is in your life.
Let me share with you the seven powerful lessons I've learned on simple living:

1. LIVE ON LESS, AND DELIGHT IN THEM MORE

Some take their pleasure dining in classy restaurants, trips to Europe , and owning the latest home theatre-equipment. I've chosen the simple path: If I can simply be with my wife, or take a quiet stroll under a canopy of stars, or play with a child, or read a good book in my home, or laugh with friends over a pizza, I consider myself richly blessed.
Focus on what you have and not on what you don't have.

2. STOP RUNNING AND WALK INSTEAD

Here's the truth: The person who has covered the greatest distance does NOT win, but the one who has most enjoyed the journey does. Stop running around chasing your own tail!
Get off your hurried pace and learn to breathe. Replace doing with being. Learn to say no to invitations, appointments, and commitments, activities and events that will rob you of your focus. Learn to say "yes" to rest, to tranquility, to quietness.

3. YOU ARE MORE THAN YOUR WEALTH

I own very few things today. Because I am more than the brand of my watch, the logo of my shoes, the name of my car. I believe that if in my soul I deeply respect and value myself, people around me will sense that, and they too, will value and respect me-whether I'm wearing Armani or not.
You are more than your wealth.

4. AVOID BUYING ON CREDIT

I don't believe in borrowing from credit cards. (For convenience, I use one card but I pay the whole amount at the end of each month..) If I need something really bad, I save up for it. Sometimes, at midpoint, I realize I don't really need the darn thing and give up the whole idea. The only exception I feel we should enter into a credit is when buying a non-depreciating item, such as housing or land. I believe we should always live within our earning capacity. Proverbs 22:7 says, "Those who borrow are slaves of moneylenders. "

5. GIVE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN

If I content myself with P250 shirt instead of P4,000 Lacoste, I can help others more. Trust me, there is immense pleasure! You will find that the empty thrill of owning a diamond ring on your finger pales in comparison to the joy of handling a piece of bread to an orphan child.
"And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." (2 Corinthians 9:8)
The Old Testament of tithing, or giving 10% of your income is a good guideline to follow. The New Testament challenges us to give with a cheerful heart. (When you're cheerful, you may give more than 10%!) Make it a habit.

6. SAVE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN

Saving is essential to being good stewards of the money that God "lends" to us. Saving is an important way of providing for our future-both for our needs and to be generous to others. I recommend that you save at least 10% of your income. I can almost hear you now: "Bo, that's impossible!" Oh yeah? Well, how did you live three years back when your salary was one-half its present amount?" Sacrifice. Many of our needs are actually wants. Is cable TV a need? Will you suddenly die if you can't watch CNN or HBO? Are those new golf clubs essential to your existence? Invest in time deposits, long-term stocks and housing.

7. BUDGET, BUDGET, BUDGET

Make a list of all your monthly expenses, according to categories. Make also a list of irregular expenses-those that don't come monthly. Set up another savings account for these expenses and put in a little money each month. To differentiate this from the savings account, we call ours "freedom account" because it frees us from worrying about them when they suddenly attack. And stick to your budget!

ONE LAST WORD BEFORE WE CLOSE

Balance. Don't take living simply to the extremes! Living simply doesn't mean living in deprivation. There are special days when my wife and I eat in a fancy restaurant. Or, when we splurge into a vacation. Very rare, yes, but my point is that you take living simply NOT as a rigid goal - but as a happy process towards the goals of generosity, inner peace and holiness.

Have a nice day! God Bless.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR 2008

Today...
I wish you a day of ordinary miracles-
A
fresh pot of coffee you didn't have to make
yourself.
An
unexpected phone call from an old friend.
Green
stoplights on your way to work or shop.
I
wish you a day of little things to rejoice in...
The
fastest line at the grocery store.
A
good sing along song on the radio.
Your
keys right where you look.
I
wish you a day of happiness and
perfection-little bite-size pieces of perfection
that give you the funny feeling that the Lord is smiling on you,
holding you so gently because you are someone special and rare.
I
wish You a day of Peace, Happiness and Joy.
They
say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour
to appreciate them, a day to love them,
but then an entire life to forget them.
Send
this phrase to the people you'll never forget
It's a short message to let
them know that you'll never forget them.
Take
the time!
Wishing
you the very best for 2008

THANK YOU...

DEAR GOD:
I want to thank You for what you have already done.
I am not going to wait until I see results or receive rewards;
I am thanking you right now.
I am not going to wait until I feel better or things look better;
until people say they are sorry or until they stop talking about me;
until the pain in my body disappears;
until my financial situation improves;
until the children are asleep and the house is quiet;
until I get promoted at work or until I get the job;
I am going to thank you right now.
I am not going to wait until I understand every experience in my life that has caused me pain or grief;
I am not going to wait until the journey gets easier or the challenges are removed; I am thanking you right now.
I am thanking you because I am alive.
I am thanking you because I made it through the day's difficulties.
I am thanking you because I have walked around the obstacles.
I am thanking you because I have the ability and the opportunity to do more and dobetter.

Send this message to 8 friends, and continue to THANK HIM.

What Goes Around Comes Around

THE CHOICES YOU MAKE, SHAPES YOUR LIFE FOREVER

GOD Always Has A
Way Of Straightening Things
OUT!!!!

One day a man saw a old lady,
stranded on the side of the road,
but even in the dim light of day,
he could see she needed help.
So he pulled up in front of her Mercedes and got out.
His Pontiac was still sputtering when he approached her.

Even with the smile on his face,
she was worried. No one had stopped to help for the last hour or so.
Was he going to hurt her? He didn't look safe;
he looked poor and hungry.

He could see that she was frightened,
standing out there in the cold.
He knew how she felt.
It was that chill which only fear can put in you.

He said, "I'm here to help you, ma'am.
Why don't you wait in the car where it's warm?
By the way, my name is Bryan Anderson.

"Well, all she had was a flat tire,
but for an old lady, that was bad enough.
Bryan crawled under the car looking for a place to put the jack,
skinning his knuckles a time or two.
Soon he was able to change the tire.
But he had to get dirty and his hands hurt.

As he was tightening up the lug nuts,
she rolled down the window and began to talk to him.
She told him that she was
from St. Louis and was only just passing through.
She couldn't thank him enough for coming to her aid.

Bryan just smiled as he closed her trunk.
The lady asked how much she owed him.
Any amount would have been all right with her.
She already imagined all the awful things
that could have happened had he not stopped.
Bryan never thought twice about being paid.
This was not a job to him.
This was helping someone in need,
and God knows there were plenty,
who had given him a hand in the past.
He had lived his whole life that way,
and it never occurred to him to act any other way.

He told her that if she really wanted
to pay him back, the next time
she saw someone who needed help,
she could g ive that person the assistance they needed,
and Bryan added,
"And think of me."

He waited until she started her car and drove off.
It had been a cold and depressing day,
but he felt good as he headed for home,
disappearing into the twilight.

A few miles down the road the lady saw a small cafe
She went in to grab a bite to eat,
and take the chill off before she made t
he last leg of her trip home.
It was a dingy looking restaurant.
Outside were two old gas pumps.
The whole scene was unfamiliar to her.
The waitress came over and
brought a clean towel to wipe her wet hair.
She had a sweet smile,
one that even being on her feet for
the whole day couldn't erase.
The lady noticed the waitress was nearly eight months pregnant,
but she never let the strain and aches change her attit ude.
The old lady wondered how someone
who had so little could be so giving to a stranger.
Then she remembered Bryan ..

After the lady finished her meal,
she paid with a hundred dollar bill.
The waitress quickly went to get change for her hundred dollar bill,
but the old lady had slipped right out the door.
She was gone by the time the waitress came back.
The waitress wondered where the lady could be.
Then she noticed something written on the napkin.

There were tears in her eyes when
she read what the lady wrote: "You don't owe me anything.
I have been there too.
Somebody once helped me out,
the way I'm helping you.
If you really want to pay me back,
here is what you do: Do not let this chain of love endwith you."

Under the napkin were four more $100 bills.

Well, there were tables to clear,
sugar bowls to fill, and people to serve,
but the waitress made it through another day.
That night when she got home from work and climbed into bed,
she was thinking about the money and what the lady had written.
How could the lady have known how much she and her husband needed it?
With the baby due next month, it was going to be hard....

She knew how worried her husband was,
and as he lay sleeping next to her,
she gave him a soft kiss and whispered soft and low,
"Everything's going to be all right.
I love you, Bryan Anderson.

"There is an old saying
"What goes around comes around.
" Today I sent you this story,
and I'm asking you to pass it on.
Let this light shine.

Don't delete it, don't return it. Simply, pass this on to a friend.

Good friends are like stars....
You don't always see t hem, but you know they are always there.

~GOD BLESS!~

Poor ANDOY

Somewhere in Milaor,Camarines Sur,
there lived a fourth grader boy who would
follow this route to school everyday:
He has to cross the rugged plains and cross
the dangerous highway where vehicles are recklessly driving endlessly.

Once past this highway, the boy would take a short cut, passing by the Church every morning just to say Hi to God, and faithfully say his, "Magandang umaga po" in Bicol dialect.
He was faithfully being watched by a Priest who was happy
to find innocence so uplifting in the morning.

"Kamusta, Andoy? Papasok ka na?"
"Opo padre ... "

he would flash his innocent grin, the priest would be touched. He was so concerned that one day he talked to Andoy.

"From school....",
he advised "Do not cross the highway,
you can pass through the Church and I can accompany you to the other side of the road ...
that way I can see that you are home safe...."

"Thank you father ..."
"Why don't you go home ...
do you stay in this church right after school?"

"I just want to say "Hi" to my friend, God,"

and the priest would leave the boy to spend time
beside the altar, talking to himself,
but the priest was hiding behind the altar
to listen to what this boy has to say to his heavenly FATHER.

"You know my math exam was pretty bad today, but I did not cheat although my seatmate is bullying me for notes...

I ate one cracker and drank my water, Itay had a bad season and all I can eat is this cracker.

Thank you for this!
I saw a poor kitten who was hungry and I know how he feels so I gave my last cracker to him ...
funny but I am not that hungry. Look, this is my last pair of slippers ...
I may have to walk barefoot next week, you see this is about to be broken... but it is okay

....at least I am still going to school....
Some say we will have a hard season this month, some of my classmates have already stopped going to school ...
please help them get to school again, please God?
...Oh, you know, Inay hit me again, it is painful,
but I know this pain will pass away, at least I still have a mother....
God, you want to see my bruises?
I know you can heal them....
Here... here and .... oh ...blood ....
I guess you knew about this one huh? Please don't be mad at Inay,
she is just tired and she worries for the food in our table and my
schooling that is why she hits us .
...Oh, I think I am in love
... there's this pretty girl in my class, her name is Anita
... do you think she will like me? Anyway, at least I know you will always like me, I don't have to be anybody just to please you, you are my very best friend! Hey your birthday is two days from now!!! Aren't you excited? I am! Wait till you see, I have a gift for you
..... but it is a surprise! I hope you will like it! Oooops, I have to go ..." then he stood up and calls out, "Padre, padre, I am finished talking to my friend ... you can accompany me to the other side of the road now"

This routine happens everyday. Andoy never fails. Father Agaton shares this every Sunday to the people in his church because he has not seen a very pure faith and trust in God, a very positive look at negative situations.

One Christmas day, Father Agaton was sick so he could not make it in the Church, he was sent to the hospital. The Church was left to 4 manangs who would chant the rosary in 1000 miles per hour, would not smile and would always find fault in what you do, they were also very well versed in cursing and swearing if you irritate them! They were kneeling, saying their kilometric rosary when Andoy, coming from his Christmas party, playfully dashed in.

"Hello God! I ...."

"P----!! (a curse) bata ka!!
Alam mo nang may nagdadasal!! Alis!!"

Poor Andoy was so terrified,
"Where's Father Agaton?
He is supposed to help me cross the street
.... and to be able to cross the street
I will have to pass by the back door of this church
...not only that, I have to greet Jesus.
It is His birthday, I have a gift right here...."

Just as he was about to get the gift out of his shirt,
the manang pulled his shirt and threw him out of the church.
"Susmaryosep!!! (does the sign of the cross fervently)
Alis kang bata ka, kung hindi matatamaan ka!!!

So the boy had no choice but to cross the dangerous side of the road in front of the church.
He crossed. A fast moving bus came in. There was a blind curve.
The boy was protecting his gift inside his shirt, so he was not looking.
There was so little time. Andoy died on the spot!
A lot of people crowded the poor boy, the body of a lifeless young boy ...

Suddenly, out of nowhere a tall man in a pure white shirt and pants,
a face so mild and gentle, but with eyes full of tears...
He came and carried the boy in His arms. He was crying.
Curious bystanders nudged the man in white, and asked,

"Excuse me sir, are you related to this child?

Do you know this child?"

The man in white, His face mourning and in agony, looked up and answered,

"He was my best friend .... "
was all he said.
He took the badly wrapped gift in the bloody chest of the lifeless boy,
and placed it near His heart.

He stood up and carried the boy away and they both disappeared in sight.
The crowd was curious ...

On Christmas Eve, Father Agaton learned of the shocking news.
He visited the house, and wanted to verify about the man in white.
He consulted the parents of Andoy.

"How did you know that your son died?"
"A man in white brought him here." sobbed the mother.
"What did he say?"

The father answered, "He did not say anything.
He was mourning. We do not know him and yet he was very lonely about our son's death,
as if he knew our son very well.
But there was something peaceful and unexplainable about him.
He gave me my son, and then he smiled peacefully.
He brushed my son's hair away from his face and kissed him on his forehead,
then he whispered something ..."

"What did he say?"
"He said to my boy..." the father began, "Thank you for the gift ... I will see you soon .... you will be with me..." and the father of the boy continued, "and you know for a while, it felt so wonderful ... I cried, but I do not know why.....all I know is I cried tears of joy ... I could not explain it, Father, but when that man left, something peaceful came over me, I felt a deep sense of love inside ... I could not explain the joy in my heart, I knew my boy is in heaven now but...tell me, Father, who is this man that my son talks to everyday in your church, you should know because you are always there ... except at the time of his death...."

Father Agaton suddenly felt the tears welling in his eyes, with trembling knees, he murmurred, " .... He was talking to no one ..... but .. GOD...."

In the public hospital of Itaguaí (RJ) last weekend was born a girl with hands joined together, like one who's praying.

The doctors told the parents that they would operate the hands of that girl, and that they would give her antistatic. The operation was easy because it seemed like the hands were simple glued together one membrane (skin) layer apart.

When they opened up the hand of that child, you can't imagine what was written...

JESUS IS COMING BACK... The doctors started weeping and all that were in the hospital.

The suburb of Itaguaí is undergoing a movement now, People that have withdrawn from church are going back and others are receiving Jesus Christ as the only savior.

God send that child simply to convey that message.
fter a few hours she died: JESUS IS COMING BACK

I have received now I'm passing on!!!

The Lord of Lords is coming back.

PROUD TO BE A FILIPINO!

A Filipino walks into a bank in
New York City and asks for the loan officer.
He tells the loan officer that he is going to the Philippines on business
for two weeks and needs to borrow $5,000.
The bank officer tells him that the bank
will need some form of security for the loan,
so the Filipino hands over the keys
and documents of new Ferrari parked
on the street in front of the bank.
He produces the title and everything checks out.
The loan officer agrees to accept the car as collateral for the loan.
The bank's president and its officers all enjoy a good laugh at the
Filipino
for using a $250,000 Ferrari as collateral against a $5,000 loan.
An employee of the bank then drives the Ferrari into the bank's
underground garage and parks it there.
Two weeks later, the Filipino returns,
repays the $5,000 and the interest, which comes to $15.41.
The loan officer says,
"Sir, we are very happy to have had your business,
and this transaction has worked out very nicely,
but we are a little puzzled.
While you were away,
we checked you out and found that you are a multi millionaire.
What puzzles us is, why would you bother to borrow "$5,000" ?
The Filipino replies:
"Where else in New York City can I park my car for two weeks for only
$15.41
and expect it to be there when I return'"
Ah, the mind of the Filipino...
